Scouting offers boys and girls ages 5–20 unique experiences that build friendships, life skills, community, and leadership. Cub Scouts welcomes kids in grades kindergarten to 5th grade to learn, play, and grow alongside their families.

Who can join Cub Scouts?+
Cub Scouts welcomes girls and boys in grades kindergarten to 5th grade and their families. Kids participate alongside their adult family members in activities that support learning, friendship, and values.
How does a Pack work?+
A Pack is a unit of Cub Scouts made up of Dens grouped by grade level. Packs meet monthly for larger activities and recognition, while Dens meet weekly for age-appropriate activities and outings, planned and led by trained adult volunteers.
What do Cub Scouts actually do?+
Cub Scouts complete Adventures age-level activities exploring fitness, outdoor skills, teamwork, and Scout values. Each grade level has required and elective Adventures, and completed ones earn belt loops or pins for the uniform.
How does advancement work?+
Advancement follows grade level. Cub Scouts who complete their required Adventures advance to the next rank on June 1. Kids can join at any time during the year or at any grade level and still have time to complete their requirements. Learn more about the Advancement Trail.
Is Scouting safe for kids?+
Safety is fundamental to everything we do. Every adult leader passes a background check and completes annual Youth Protection and Barriers to Abuse Training. Cub Scouting also practices Two-Deep Leadership, requiring two trained adults for any engagement with a Cub Scout or group of Scouts.
What about camping?+
Our council operates Camp Gorton, Camp Sam Wood, and Camp Scouthaven. Cub Scouts are encouraged to attend Cub Scout Adventure Camp for waterfront and shooting-skills Adventures, or a local Cub Scout Day Camp for the same fun without the overnight stay.
